INTERVIEW

What inspired you to start baking?

Meelah: My husband inspired me to start baking to take it on full force. I’m always in the kitchen cooking or baking so he gave me the push that I needed.

Run reader's through the day you decided you wanted to start a business.

Meelah: The day I decided I actually was just scrolling on Facebook I had been contemplating on doing it for a while and my husband must’ve got tired of me not chasing the dream and just talking about it so I went for it and took a class to decorate since I already knew how to bake.

What are your most popular flavors and designs?

Meelah: My most popular cake is vanilla even though my red velvet and chocolate are my favorites! Normally a 2 layer 8inch is what people order and they let me freestyle. I never want to copy anyone else’s work so I make it my own!

What does baking mean to you?

Meelah: Baking means everything to me! I’ve always loved cooking so that’s my love language and happy place. When I’m baking it doesn’t feel like a chore like everything else that’s tedious in the home lol.

On hard days, what motivates you to keep going?

Meelah: On my hard days my kids and my momma motivates me! My kids are always going to be my inspiration and my mommy’s favorite show was charmed so I renamed my bakery to Charm’d Bakery in remembrance of her!

With such talent, do you ever see yourself entering into a baking competition one day?

Meelah: I’ve thought about entering a competition but I’m not confident enough just yet but I watch those and cooking shows all the time as inspiration and I’m always trying to perfect my craft so one day!

How can readers order themselves a yummy cake?🎂

Meelah: Right now I’m not offering shipping but I’m working on it so pretty soon that’ll be an option! But as of now if you are in the Memphis Tennessee or Mississippi area you can message my business page or my personal page to place an order.
